Final Fantasy: A History

I joined the clan with FFXI and it seemed like noone had played the other FF's. I've been replaying though the FF's and though I'd make a history of the main series cause if you didnt know there are more then just 11.

Final Fantasy:
Platform: FamiCom/NES Rerelesed on: MSX2, GBA, Cellphone, PS, and Wonderswan Color
Relese: 1987
This game started it all. Without this game there wouldnt be anything else. Final Fantasy was Squares last hope before they would have gone out of bussiness, hence the name FINAL Fantasy. The game was centered around 4 nameless heros on the search to restore 4 crystals. The music was done by Uematsu and was basicly the first RPG with really good music. Its had 5 remakes (all bascily the same on differnt platforms) The jobs, Warrior, Theif, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, and Red Mage, you chose from at the start are still seen today in some form in the Final Fantasy's.

Final Fantasy II
Platforms: Famicom, GBA, Cellphone, PS, and Wonderswan Color
Relese:1988
Known as the worst in the series in many peoples opnions due to the leveling system and difficulty. FFII focus's on the story of Firion, Maria, and the guy called Guy(he can talk to beavers^^)trying to find their friend Leon and rebel against the empire. The game was almost fully translated into English and set to be relesed on the NES but was never finshed. The US did see this title untill the rerelese on Final Fantasy Origins on the PS.

Final Fantasy III
Platforms: FamiCom, currently being remade on the Nintendo DS
Relese:1990
The only FF I havent played all the way thourgh and the only one from the 8-Bit era of FF to not be rerelesed. The game was the first to feature the job system. It was very advance for its time and was the first to bring moogles to the FF world. The game is currently being made for the Nintendo DS and will make its way to the US and UK .

Final Fantasy IV
Platforms: Super FamiCom, SNES(as Final Fantasy II), PS, GBA, and WonderSwan Color
Relese: 1990
Seccond Final Fantasy relsesed in the US. It was relesed as FFII not to confuse people. The game was about a Dark Knight named Cecil fighting Golbez. Introduced many of the summons we have today and the best FF quote ever "You Spoony Bard!". The game was the first to bring the ATB to the table and made a wonderfull change for RPGs of the time.Considered by some to be the best FF of all, of course these are the non "OMG HAXORZ FFVII IZ TEH BEZT U LOZER" people. It was relsed on the PS with the FFCronicles pack (even though there is no sence of time traveling in the game@-@)

Final Fantasy V
Platforms: Super FamiCom, PS
Relese: 1992
FFV was relsesed in JAP and was only seen there untill relesed with FFVI on the PS. This game basicly took the job system from FFIII and made it better. A lot more jobs were added. The game also introduced Omega one of the "Super Bosses" seen in the FF games.

Final Fantasy VI
Platforms: Super FamiCom, SNES(relesed as FFIII), PC
Relese: 1994
Last 2D FF in the main series. It had GREAT music and GREAT graphics. It was relesed in the US under the name of FFIII because either Square or Nintendo didnt want us feeble minded americans to get confused yet again. The game takes the job system away and bring back charates that have specifc jobs. The game had many chages from the JAP version but nothing to big. Just to bacily North Americanize it. The game was a good way to go out on the 2D Games.

Final Fantasy VII
Platforms: PS, PC
Relses: 1997
FF was only relesed only on Nintend systmes untill then. With the PS comeing out Square wanted to take use of it power and switched to PS, what we got was FFVII. By many people(not me) it is the best FF ever made. It is one of two FFs to have direct sequals. FFVII has 5 actuly. FFVII AC is the most well know. The graphics are Horible to todays standards and i dont really think they were the best then. But it was the first to feature FMVs but they werent really that well made. The Magic system was controlled by use speres called "Materia" It was an interesting concept and we was really fun too. The game was long spanning 3 PS disks and featured many extras. By all means its not the best but its up top. Rumors are going around that a PS3 remake will be made because of the PS3 tech demo but FFVIII had a PS2 tech demo and was never remade so dont get your hopes up, still a possiblitie though.

Final Fantasy VIII
Platforms: PS, PC
Relese:1999
Considered by some to be worse then FFII FFVIII had a great story gameplay on the other hand meh. Magic wasnt learnt it was stolen by enimies and GFs(or summons) didnt really use MP. The Game was very easy on the eyes and had great FMV. A huge inprovment in all ways from FFVII other then the battle system.

Final Fantasy IX
Platforms:PS
Relese: 2000
One of the forgotten FFs, many people didnt like FFIX due to the fact that it went back to FF's root(FF1~5) There are many references to the early games and the charater designer Yoshitaka Amano was called back after doing the designs for (FF1-6. This game wasnt set in modern time like FF7 and 8 in which many FF'ers joined because of them being on the PS. The game itself was very solid and had a great story line. Graphics even better then FFVIII and the best FMVs seen on the PS.

Final Fantasy X
Platforms:PS2
Relese: 2001
FFX the first FF on PS2 and one of the best FF's at that. Great story, great battle system, great greaphics, and FMVs you can die for what more can you ask for. The only other game that has had a direct sequal. Had a very good story with enough to keep you satisfied. All the charaters had a back story. In my opnions the best limit breaks of all the FFs also. The first FF to have VA's did not dissapoint either. The game is a must have for all people who love RPGs even if you dont like FF.

Final Fantasy X-2
Platforms:PS2
Relese:2003
The highly anticipated FFX-2 to some peoplew as a great flop. I liked it. I personaly think the battle system is the best battle system of all the RPGs out there. The Story wasnt as good as its predesesor but still kept you in. It brough back and spiffed up the job system. Again the graphics and FMVs are great alaong with the VAs. Not the best FF out there though I would play FFX over this anyday. This game also contains my fave quote ever "I dont like you'r plan, it sucks."~Yuna FFX-2

Final Fantasy XI
Platforms: PS2, PC, Xbox360
Relese: 2002
First online FF. Many people dont think this should be a main FF game. The game play can be repetitive but fun at the same time. It has the best Job system that you can get from a FF game and the best graphics (if you on PC or 360) The 5 races add a difference also. At the end it seems like a MMO with FF mixed in, which it is >,<., they got what they were aiming for but with subscription fee of 13 a month it makes some FF players uninterested. Still the 3 different city story lines and the expansions that have been relesed should keep a person busy for quite a while.

Final Fantasy XII
Playform:PS2
Relese: 2006
I dont really know much about this game other then that its made by the people who made FFTA. The Graphics look amazing and it has already made its run in Japan. US should be getting it soon.

So thats a brief history of FF. If i did the other FFs I would still be typeing but maybe another day, fornow solong.
